Belinda Lyone, general manager – strategic sourcing and marketing at Complete Office Suuplies (COS), has won the 2016 Family Business Australia Next Generation Achiever Award.
The award recognises an outstanding person who is successfully navigating the path to leadership in a family business. The recipient embraces ‘best fit’ practices in the business, and demonstrates commitment to, and understanding of, the family values and history.
Lyone, the daughter of COS founder and CEO, Dominique Lyone. joined her sister Amie Lyone in the business in 2006, after a career in B2C marketing.
Family Business Australia is the peak body for family business in Australia, a sector which accounts for almost half a million businesses and 50 per cent of the Australian workforce.
The purpose of FBA is to contribute to the long-term success of family business by facilitating and engaging resources and channels that promote success and foster sustainability and longevity.
Earlier this month, COS was named as an Australian Business Awards 2016 ABA100 winner in the Community Contribution category.
“When I moved to Australia from Egypt with my family in the 1960s, we would not have survived if it weren’t for the support of charities like St Vincent de Paul. Australia has been very kind to our family,” Dom Lyone said.
“As a legacy of this we formed the Lyone Foundation [in 2013] to which COS contributes a significant percentage of our profits each year. The foundation has the aim of donating $1 million a year to charities who assist Australians in need, and it’s our way of sharing our success with those facing challenging times. This award is also shared with our staff and customers as by working and engaging with COS they too have contributed to the Foundation’s success.”
